Silken Berlaymont / Zoom Gallery
Photographic artworks exhibitions in a Brussels hotel
"Zoom Gallery"

In order to better promote the living museum of the image of our time that is the Silken Berlaymont and to enhance its permanent private collection of 450 artworks of European artists, the hotel launched "The Zoom Gallery" in 2001.

This photographic gallery presents, every three months, exhibitions of photographic artworks from existing or future famous European artists.

In the heart of the European district, the hotel Silken Berlaymont hotel opened since 1996, owns a private photo collection of around 450 artworks on every decorative support.

The art of the 21st century has been fully integrated in this establishment of exceptional architecture designed by the Belgian Serge Roose.

The gallery is located on the beautiful 'passerelle' leading the guest from the lobby to "L'Objectif" restaurant or 'The News' bar. The passerelle benefits from the brightness of natural direct daylight.

The second part of the gallery is located in the large and gorgeous corridor (see picture) linking the two buildings of the hotel and adjacent to the meeting rooms. This locations takes advantage from indirect natural daylight falling down from the passerelle.

"Belgium by night" - "40 years in Brussels'sky" - by Alexandre Laurent

40 years in Brussels’ sky
A passionate project bringing together a pilot and two photographers (father & son) offers surprising views of Brussels. The talented Alexandre retakes his father’s pictures 40 years later. The result shows a fantastic and breath taking account of the evolution of Brussels and its numerous transformations in a 40 year period.

Belgium by night
Laurent’s talent finds its best expression in his aerial pictures at night. He manages to capture in one second the beauty of our cities and offers another way of looking at them. They look like enormous bodies, full of buzzing and luminous veins. Through his work on light, Alexandre reinvents the design of cities.
