Silken Berlaymont / Zoom Gallery
Photographic artworks exhibitions in a Brussels hotel
"Zoom Gallery"

In order to better promote the living museum of the image of our time that is the Silken Berlaymont and to enhance its permanent private collection of 450 artworks of European artists, the hotel launched "The Zoom Gallery" in 2001.

This photographic gallery presents, every three months, exhibitions of photographic artworks from existing or future famous European artists.

In the heart of the European district, the hotel Silken Berlaymont hotel opened since 1996, owns a private photo collection of around 450 artworks on every decorative support.

The art of the 21st century has been fully integrated in this establishment of exceptional architecture designed by the Belgian Serge Roose.

The gallery is located on the beautiful 'passerelle' leading the guest from the lobby to "L'Objectif" restaurant or 'The News' bar. The passerelle benefits from the brightness of natural direct daylight.

The second part of the gallery is located in the large and gorgeous corridor (see picture) linking the two buildings of the hotel and adjacent to the meeting rooms. This locations takes advantage from indirect natural daylight falling down from the passerelle.

Current Exhibition : "Mises en scène involontaires"

Mises en scène involontaires - by Patrick Van Roy

Patrick van Roy is a self-taught photographer who reads between the lines. "I love the art of photography because it can simplify as well as distil things in a visual sense. When taking pictures, you can isolate, crop, remove elements from their context, and freeze the moment. Photography has the power to transform, to tell a story, to give a subjective opinion…  A picture does not tell the truth but it offers unlimited possibilities, it can offer a thousand views, a thousand choices. It goes beyond appearances and provokes the imagination."

The series Involuntary Scenes and Nocturnal Viewpoints have the same objective: to show us our daily environment like we have never seen it before.
