1. Request for registration can be found on this site under REGISTRATION FORM or directly at the Sales Department of the hotel SILKEN BERLAYMONT.
2. The artworks can be in full color as well as in black and white. The format of the artworks has to be vertical, printed on a size of 17.5cm x 47cm (then it will be adapted to a format of 70cm x 188cm). Each participant can only send one series of six artworks.
3. A photograph illustrates the surface of the door – letting a little space between the door and the frame - and a full photo series consists of 1 floor (as from 12 up to 20 doors). All the doors are dark brawn. As you can never see one whole corridor, some pictures will be repeated 2 or 3 times. The pictures are printed on a vinyl pasted on each door, the winner has to provide us with a CD or an USB stick with the pictures in a minimum 200 Dpi definition.
4. Every photographer or student in photography who is resident for at least 5 years of one of the European member countries is entitled to participate.
5. Each participant gives a unique right to reproduce the photo series participating to the contest and, more particularly the winning photo series, on the doors of the hotel as well as on every single piece of promotional material linked to the idea of the "Silken Photo Award" or "The Zoom Gallery". The artist will not authorize Sofam or any other so called association for artist rights to claim any copyright to Silken Berlaymont Brussels. If Silken Berlaymont Brussels wishes to use those pictures for any other commercial purposes than those here above mentioned, this use will be subject to another contract further to the initial written approval of the artist and following the rules of rights established by the Sofam or any other so called associations.
6. The hotel Silken Berlaymont is not responsible if pictures are damaged during the transportation or during the exhibition.
7. The participants have to send their artworks before August 15, 2011 to the hotel Silken Berlaymont Brussels. The series has to be accompanied by a registration form, duly filled in and signed by the artist, an artist resume, a small explanation of the artworks as well the photo series title and/or the title of each individual photography. The hotel keeps the right to exclude a photographic series if this one is not corresponding to the final use of the pictures.
8. The artist may submit the works untitled but may also submit with title and or description of theme.
9. Each participant will be advised in written about the contest winner.
10. No explanation nor by phone nor in written will be given about the jury's decision.
11. The non wining series can be recovered at the end of the announcement evening, or at the reception of the hotel upon prior request, or by covering the sending costs.
12. The participation to this contest means irrevocably the acceptance of the Silken Photo Award rules.
13. A jury of experts will be invited during the month of September to choose the winner behind closed doors. The jury will be considered as "valid" if at least three experts are present at the selection. All the jury members are forced to silence until the official announcement of the selected photo series during a cocktail organized by the hotel somewhere in the month of November/December 2011. The selection will be based on the photographs only; artists will remain anonymous until the end of the selection by the jury.
