The 21st century Art has been fully integrated into this building of exceptional architecture, designed by Serge Roose. Every room, hallway and meeting room has a photograph that welcomes the guests and, by attracting their eye, arouses there emotions.

It is easy to understand that the diversity of intentions involved in taking the photographs responded to an array of needs. Whether taken for documentation purposes or as a response to artistic aspiration, photography has changed the artistic and visual - communications landscape. Photography, for the very first time, has been placed in a position of honour in a Brussels hotel.
The aim of the hotel Silken Berlaymont Brussels, was to create, in parrallel with the political geography, a European network based on culture. Thanks to the collaboration of some 130 artists, the hotel has been able to integrate into its decor a collection on the theme of " The Art of Photography - a vision of European Culture."
Having escaped the tragedy of tower of Babel artists speak with a single language that transcends the national boundaries, the aim of the collection is to stimulate discussions and meetings trough a universal mode of communication : Photography.
Moreover, by emphasizing regional characteristics, it reflect the cultural heritage that unites the various European Countries.
Based on a orininal idea from Jacques Hollander, the collection benefited from the participation of three personalities from the world of photography : Christian Caujolle (from the "VU' Agency), Jean-Louis Godefroid (Manager of "Escape Photographique Contretype") and Alain D'Hooghe (Curator). The building was designed by Serge Roose.
